ADAP has won a new grant!<\/p>\n

Since September, ADAP has been able to benefit from funding from the USAID Tuhifadhi Maliasili project to help improve living conditions for communities and ensure sustainable management of the Ruaha Rungwa – Inyonga and Ruaha Rungwa – Katavi ecological corridors.<\/p>\n

The main objectives of the USAID Tuhifadhi Maliasili funding are :<\/p>\n

    \n
  • The land use of the Ruaha Rungwa – Inyonga and Ruaha Rungwa – Katavi ecological corridors is secured and property titles are issued, through the finalization of land management plans for the 9 villages concerned.<\/li>\n
  • Community livelihoods, access to financing and effective participation in biodiversity conservation are improved, through technical training in mushroom picking and the introduction of new services such as micro-credits. Particular attention will be paid to women.<\/li>\n
  • Key stakeholders are well coordinated for the sustainable management of the Ruaha Rungwa – Inyonga and Ruaha Rungwa – Katavi corridors, thanks to the establishment of corridor working groups.<\/li>\n
  • ADAP Tanzania’s technical capabilities are being strengthened through various technical training courses, to ensure effective implementation of its mission and vision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The grant started on October 1, 2023, for a period of 2 years. The first activities have already begun with training on biodiversity conservation and also the first training for ADAP Tanzania staff to be held from the beginning of 2024.<\/p>\n

    This grant complements the current Rungwa River Corridor project which was initiated by ADAP back in 2018, and funded by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Genevoise de Coop\u00e9ration and co-financed by the Wildlife Conservation Society between 2020 and 2022.<\/p>\n

    ADAP is looking forward to starting this new partnership and beginning activities with new villages in the Chunya district.<\/p>\n
