{"id":181,"date":"2017-08-04T14:40:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-04T12:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adap.ch\/en\/?p=181"},"modified":"2021-07-09T13:06:44","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T11:06:44","slug":"gestion-communautaire-et-durable-des-ressources-naturelles-par-les-populations-locales-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adap.ch\/en\/gestion-communautaire-et-durable-des-ressources-naturelles-par-les-populations-locales-2\/","title":{"rendered":"CITIZEN SPACE: DEBATE ON SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND THE COTTON SECTOR IN EASTERN BURKINA FASO"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fsn-row full-width-row fsn-6a00a4903bfa9 light\" style=\"background-repeat:repeat;background-position:left top;background-attachment:scroll;background-size:auto;\"><div class=\"container-fluid\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-sm-12\"><div class=\"fsn-column-inner fsn-6a00a4903c121 light\"><div class=\"fsn-text fsn-6a00a4903c24f cadre2\">\n<p>The Citizen Space for Information and Dialogue (ECID) &#8220;Sustainable management of natural resources and the cotton sector in eastern Burkina Faso&#8221; was a space for fair and transparent debate that took place in Fada N&#8217;Gourma from Thursday 15 May through Monday 19 May 2008.\u00a0It enabled a panel of 30 producers from the Eastern Region to hear expert witnesses talk about issues of natural resource management and the cotton sector.\u00a0Following these hearings and the ensuing debates, the producers issued recommendations addressed to both the decentralized and national authorities, as well as to the populations of the region.<br \/>\nIn this way, the producers were able to learn about their rights and give their opinions on various development projects and policies in their Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" hcb-fetch-image-from=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FN4odWQEnvE\" title=\"Paroles de Paysans\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FN4odWQEnvE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Context<br \/>\n<\/strong>Burkina Faso\u2019s Eastern Region is home to some of the last large natural areas in West Africa. These are progressively threatened by the growth of agriculture, in particular the cultivation of cotton, one of the rare sources of income for the populations of the region.
